Above the fold
The Enemy of Your Enemy
Not long ago, Elon Musk and his Tesla were the poster children for the environmentally friendly Democratic Party. Then?
Then, he joined Team Trump in the middle of the night. He said he couldn’t continue to support unsound policy while adding trillions to our nation’s debt.
Hundreds of millions of dollars flowed from Musk into Republican campaigns. Trump won.
DOGE was created. Musk named and led it. Billions of dollars of government waste, fraud, and abuse were uncovered daily. Big Balls found it, Musk trumpeted it.
Suddenly, the Democratic Party hated Musk.
Some zealots keyed parked Teslas. A few went further. They burned down a Tesla dealership or three. What was once good was now bad.
Democrat party leader shrills claimed Musk would put hard-working civil servants out of work. Vital government services would be reduced or eliminated. Surely, children would be hungry, and the elderly would be abused. Social Security checks would be delayed. And that wouldn’t even be the worst of it.
But, as quickly as DOGE sprinted out of the gate, it “concluded” its work last week. Musk said it was time to return to his day job as promised months ago. Trump held a ceremony in the White House praising Musk’s contribution.
And then? Washington’s focused on getting Trump’s big, beautiful spending bill through Congress.
Four months in Musk has had it with the uniparty.
Yesterday, he tweeted. “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.
Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
The once in love, then haters, were in love again. Gavin Newsom, Amy Klobacher, Eric Swalwell, Bernie Sanders, and others jumped on social media to praise Musk.
The enemy of your enemy is your friend. Cutting spending was a bad idea. Now, spending is a bad idea.
The reality is that the Democrats are against anything that Trump wants to get done. It’s not about America, it’s about the party. It’s about votes. It’s about politics.
Meanwhile, Republican Rep Steve Scalise was dumb enough to tweet this yesterday. “Proud to lead this massive rescissions package to codify $9.4 BILLION of President Trump’s spending cuts. This is a critical move to lock in real savings for the American people.”
Nine point four BILLION is what the country spends every eleven HOURS.
The bill “cuts the nation’s deficit by 8.4 trillion dollars over ten years,” say Republican water carriers. They don’t say what it adds to the deficit over the same ten years. And, therefore, they omit what that would add to the 37 trillion in debt we are already wallowing in.
Rand Paul said he’ll vote against it. He said he’s consistently voted against spending bills that didn’t align with a balanced budget since he first walked into the Rotunda. Trump chided Paul. Trump’s a big spender, too.
What about a Musk/Paul ticket for 2028?
Don’t laugh. Ok, laugh.
Musk quickly realized that you can’t drain the swamp as constructed. Paul is a lone voice of reason, drowned out by all the scary creatures that lurk in the murky waters.
Every incumbent needs to get primaried in 2026.
Every.

Like the cuts but hate the spending. Musk was wrong in thinking that eliminating fraud and waste in spending would be the most important move. It’s only a small part. Yes, fraud needs to be eliminated and yes, the party of the Biden Crime Family is complicit and(allegedly) participates, but we must take measures to reduce spending at all costs.
AT ALL COSTS.
I see what you did there with the all caps! Bravo!
It takes Big Balls and likely some real economic upheaval to change course. Trump isn’t there to teach how nor weather that storm(y) either.
Musk claimed DOGE will continue cutting even after his departure. I doubt we will ever hear about DOGE again. The swamp is deep and the corruption is deeper.
That’s exactly why I wrote in the past tense. It’s cooked just like the midterms.
The irony is it doesn’t matter which party is in control. The LOVE spending our money and they just kick the debt down the rode until one day it will blow up. I guess the only positive is what they are spending the money on. At least it isn’t on what the left has been wasting it on for the last 4 years. Hopefully it’s bye bye Woke Sesame Street.
Second prize isn’t really any consolation unfortunately.
The big money spending is what causes the debt.
I give them five Big Bird’s if they’d give me a balanced budget.
Happy Pride Month !!!!
I’m just here for the comments
Oh, just drop a grenade and go did you?
